Second year student at Colorado State University, Tyler Weatherwax gazes toward the Clark Building. Studying journalism and news writing he calls the Clark Building home. Captured Wednesday, Jan. 31 by Mikayla DeCarlo.

Who is Tyler Weatherwax? If you ask him he will tell you he’s a second year student at Colorado State University and a news writer for the Collegian. All in which are true, but I’ll ask again who IS Tyler Weatherwax?

From a young age Weatherwax had a love for music, and not just any music but classic rock. He shares his love of classic rock with the people who introduced him to the genre, his mom and grandpa.

When asked what his favorite song was Weatherwax responded almost immediately, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking by The Rolling Stones. Surprised and intrigued with such a fast answer, I asked why. “Half of the song was improvised and has such a high intensity to it. Mixed with something mysterious, the song is so unique and to me it’s impossible to replicate.” Weatherwax said.

When filling his ears with music from The Beetles, Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan some of Weatherwax favorite artist’s, they aren’t just songs but to him a sense of home.

And home is exactly what he found at KCSU.

Trey DuFauchard, a colleague and friend said, “Tyler just brings an electric energy to any room he’s in.” Just like music brings joy and ease to people, Weatherwax shares many of those qualities.

Becoming a disk jockey at Colorado State’s local radio station KSCU, Weatherwax was learning the ins and outs of the business while also sharing his love of music with others around him. It was a dream but not his calling.

Weatherwax has a love for music but a passion for writing. He found that passion while writing for CSU’s local news outlet the Rocky Mountain Collegian.

“Keeping a smooth interesting story kind of reminds me of listening to a smooth song, it just flows and you get completely swept up in it.” Weatherwax added.

Much like listening to music, writing gives him a rush and an opportunity to create something unique. He wants to make people feel something when reading his work, just like music has done for him.

So who is Tyler Weatherwax? I believe he said it best, unique and impossible to replicate.
